Brownfield restoration is an exercise in developmental sustainability because it returns to commercial interests a land resource for further development. Environmentalists support the effort because remediation is a large component. Government profits and therefore supports the process as well. As all parties take some benefit, whatever can be the problem? Jeff Kleeger teaches legal studies courses at Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, Florida, and is an attorney with real estate experience. He writes on matters of property law as they relate to environmental and social concerns.
