Description
Three species of the genus Rypticus Cuvier (Perciformes: Grammistidae)
from the tropical eastern Pacific region are described and
illustrated, including their juvenile forms. Rypticus bicolor Valencienne
and R. nigripinnis Gill are recognized as distinct species, and a new
species is described. Distribution is in the area of warm equatorial
circulation from lower Baja California southward to the Ecuador-Peruvian border.
