The experimental investigation of the structural performance of a Diver Lock-out Chamber (DLC) penetrator plate was conducted by the Mechanical Engineering Department of Harbor Branch Foundation, Inc. The test objective was to evaluate the structural integrity of the penetrator plate by means of electrical resistance strain gages located on it's external surface. The information gained through testing will be used to insure an acceptable safety factor for the submersibles presently rated depth and an extrapolated value for it's proposed reclassification depth.
