Note

Written as a creative memoir, this piece will highlight the deterioration of the environment through the loss of habitats and insect and animal species, weaving together elements taken from Aztec and Mayan mythology, green consciousness, and Eco-feminist theory to form a cohesive tapestry that laments the loss of the species, but with an eye to the future. Rebecca Dominguez-Karimi is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Comparative Studies at Florida Atlantic University. She obtained her MA in Liberal Studies from FAU with an emphasis in Oral History and Creative Writing (Non-Fiction). She specializes in issues affecting the Mexican American community in Texas. This paper was presented at the Comparative Studies Association 2008 Conference: Interdisciplinarity and Environmental Sustainability.
