Note
Aquatic seagrass bed habitats are often found at shallow depths, therefore allowing a wide variety of methodologies to be used in capturing nektonic organisms associated with these ecosystems. Determination of density, biomass and overall abundance of fish and crustaceans has received considerable thought and experimental treatment, with many innovative gear designs and techniques having been used. With any of these techniques there are limitations in the species composition of the sample and accuracy of abundance estimates dependent on area coverage, sample time interval and gear specificity.
