Signatures: [A]⁴ B-C⁴. "A sketch of General Washington's life and character."--Page [17]-[21], dated Maryland, May 3d 1779. The biographical sketch of George Washington originally printed in a pamphlet in London and given to American prisoners of war. Attributed to John Bell of Maryland by Evans, who calls it the first attempt of a life of Washington. Cf. Evans 16677. "Distances at the principal Towns in New England from New-London, with the most noted houses of entertainment on the road": pages [23]-[24].
Title vignette, relief cut of an eclipse, is the only illustration. Title within border of double rules; text printed within ruled border. Advertised in the Connecticut gazette, New London, Oct. 19, 1781.
