Note

Eleven species of the diatom genus Mastogloia collected as epiphytes from
the Indian River, Florida (U.S.A.) were studied using transmitted light and scanning electron
microscopy. Attention was focused on the loculi and their external pores in M. angulata,
M. binotata, M. cribrosa, M. erythraea, M. hustedtii, M. lanceolata, M. ovalis, M. cf. pisciculus,
M. pumila, M. pusilla and M. schmidtii. Extracellular material was also studied in relation
to the locular pores in eight of these species.
