Note
The Nassau grouper (Epinephelus striatus,
family Serranidae) ranges throughout the tropical
western Atlantic. Like several Pacific species, it is
highly valued commercially and in many areas is
severely depleted. We have studied the reproduction
and culture of Nassau groupers since 1987. They were
raised from eggs to adults with good growth and feed
conversion, and some were successfully tagged and
released in a tropical coral reef environment. This
report summarizes major results of the program.
