Note
This paper will deal with the operation and technological
advancement of two diver lock-out submersibles, JOHNSON-SEA-LINK
I and JOHNSON-SEA-LINK II (J-S-L I and J-S-L II). These
submersibles are owned and operated by Harbor Branch Foundation,
Ft. Pierce, Fla., and were designed specifically for marine
science research. Both submersibles are identical and are
designed to operate to depths of 3,000 ft. with diver lock-out
capabilities to 1,500 ft. Together these submersibles have
logged close to 2,000 dives since January of 1974.
