Valiant Men "Dat fite mit Siegel" is a sketch of a women kneeling in front of troops, while a young child tries to escape with a baby in her arms. It was created by the German born artist John Adalbert Volck who resided in Baltimore, MD during the American Civil War. Adalbert J. Volck went under the pseudynom of V. Blada. Volck's satirical sketches depict scenes related to the American Civil War. This sketch is part of a set of 29 from a book titled "Sketches from the Civil War in North America, 1861, ’62, ’63" by V.
