The need for mechanization in aquaculture is most acute for infaunal mollusk cultivation. Environmental impact, as well as harvesting efficiency, must be considered when designing aquaculture implements. The mechanizaton of farming in the marine environment presents a unique challenge to innovative marine technologists in the decade to come.
