Elenic acid (R-2,4-dimethyl-22-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-docos-3(E)-enoic acid) from an Indonesian sponge, Plakinastrella sp. inhibits Topoisomerase II with an IC50 of 0.1 μg/mL. Elenic acid (R-2,4-dimethyl-22-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-docos-3(E)-enoic acid) from an Indonesian sponge, Plakinastrella sp., inhibits Topoisomerase II with an IC50 of 0.1 mg/mL. Its absolute stereochemistry was determined with Kusumi's R and S-phenylglycinyl methyl esters (PGME).
