Deborah "Mikki" Minney, Assistant Provost and Director of Freshman Academic Advising Services, 1990-2012. She was instrumental in developing and starting the very successful academic advising and support program for freshmen that resulted in a significant reduction in the dropout rate. As Provost and Director she trained a team of nine professional academic advisors, three graduate student advisors and five faculty advisors to provide counseling for all prospective and incoming FAU students as well as ensuring all freshmen enroll in the freshmen transition course that she taught. Her professional talents were recognized by Outstanding Minority Educator by FAU and the Florida Department of Education. She also was named FAU's Outstanding Freshman Advocate and awarded the Golden Key International Honor Society Advisor of the Year.
