In this interview, husband and wife Albert and Mary Pont share their experiences from their Midwest upbringing to their military service. In fact, the Ponts first met during World War II—Albert was a Marine Pilot attached to the Second Marine Division and Mary was an Army Nurse. They served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations on the Island of Saipan. After the war, they married and pursued diverse careers of service to the U.S. and their local Brevard community. In addition to Mr. Pont’s World War II service, he fought in the Korea War. Currently, Mr. Pont is an active volunteer with the local hospitals in the South Brevard area. In 1982, Mrs. Pont began a very active volunteer program as a nurse volunteer with the South Brevard hospice.
