Shell tubules in Corbicula fluminea (Bivalvia: Heterodonta): functional morphology and microstructure

Shell microstructure of 30 specimens drawn randomly from some 250 specimens of Corbicula fiuminea collected at different seasons and from various habitats in southern Mississippi and ranging in size from 7 to 38 mm shell length, were closely scrutinized for possession of shell tubules. Exact details of collection times and sites can be found in Prezant and Tan Tiu (1986) and Tan Tiu (1987).
