Note
It has been estimated that $367,000,000 will be spent by the commercial and recreational marine industries to equip their vessels to meet marine-sanitation requirements in the next five years in the United States alone. Millions more will be spent by port authority, terminal shipyard, and marina operators to install shores ide equipment systems to service those on-board sewage treatment devices (which will require frequent pump-out of sewage or sewage sludge). Substantial expenditures will also be required to operate and maintain shipboard and shoreside sewage collection and treatment systems.
