Note
The effects of salinity on the growth and survival of wild celery, Vallisneria americana Michx., from the Caloosahatchee Estuary (southwest Florida, USA). were examined experimentally using indoor mesocosms. Plants were exposed to 5 constant salinity treatments (0%, 3%, 9%, 12%, 15%) for 43 days. Two factors (position in the estuary, season) which might lead to different exposure regimes and hence different salinity tolerances were also examined. Two independent experiments were conducted: one during the winter dry season and one during the summer wet season.
