Voncile Smith, Ph.D., Founding Chair, Dept. of Communication. 1966 - 2003. She helped organize FAU's chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She was the president of the FAU chapter for the American Association of University Professors and also served a the president and parliamentarian of the Faculty Senate. She was awarded the Faculty Talon Award in 1999 as recognition and appreciation of her many years of service.
