Note
In this study, we examined aspects of the visual physiology of the Antarctic amphipod Abyssorchomene plebs (Hurley, 1965) (Gammaridea: Lysianassoidea). This species is a common benthic scavenger that lives at depths from 10 to 800m and has a circumpolar distribution (Rakusa-Suszczewments (Meyer-Rochow and Tiang, 1979). Specimens were transported in darkness at 4 °c over the next 4 days to the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution (Fort Pierce, Florida), where all experiments were conducted.
