Etchings depict graphic scenes related to the war with each sketch part of a set of 30 from a book titled Sketches from the Civil War in North America, 1861, ’62, ’63 / by V. Blada. Adalbert J. Volck went under the pseudynom of V. Blada. Slaves Concealing their Master from a Search Party, 1863 is a sketch of a women opening the door and directing troops in another direction, while a man hides behind her door.
