Benthic coral reef algal communities at and near ship grounding sites in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary

Benthic algae are an integral component of coral reef systems throughout the world and are important in reef recolonization after the occurrence of physical disturbances. The grounding of the freighter Wellwood on Molasses Reef was a catastrophe of unprecedented proportion in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS).
