Note

The warm temperatures of the Gulf Stream afford the Bermuda Islands a marine biota anomalous to the coastal waters of similar latitudes along the eastern seaboard of the United States. Bermuda's tropical coral reefs and their associated communities are far more similar to Caribbean ecosystems, and thus many species characteristic of the West Indian Marine Province find the northern-most extension of their range in Bermuda.
