Note

Launch and recovery operations of the JOHNSON-SEA-LINK submersible from monohull vessels are described along with suggested modifications to improve the present launch and recovery system. The design criteria to be used in planning launch and recovery systems for a future ship are used to develop six candidate geometries. Of the six candidate geometries, two alternatives are selected which best meet the design criteria. The advantages and disadvantages of each alternative launch and recovery system are presented.
