Description
WWII photograph of priest offering US Army Signal Corps soldiers communion the night before a major offensive. Belgium, Europe, Field Press Publication November 20, 1944. On back of photograph stamped: "Capt. Venanty Szymanski, of assumption (Polish) parish at Detroit, Mich., gives communion on visit to C.R. Sq., at their bivouac in empty mansion in German-Belgium border town. Prayers were offered for comrades who at that moment were starting one of the biggest offensives in history."William Rosenblatt Collection contains black and white photographs taken by the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II. Most of the photographs depict various members of the United States Army and relief organization workers in France and Belgium. The collection also contains some personal photographs of William Rosenblatt in Paris during that time and some postcards from Laval and Verdun France.
