Description
Improved planning and control of operations are recognized today as vital needs in recouping or maintaining a company's strength. Use of computers in this field has now become a necessity. Relational database and SQL are the ultimate choice for managing data like inventory and scheduling. In this thesis a computer aided production and inventory control application is developed using dBase IV version 2.0 from Borland International Inc. Salam Sons, a plastic molding firm in Pakistan is used as a test bed for the application. But with little modification it can be used in any production environment. SQL is used in most of the programming which makes it highly portable among different DBMS's and hardware systems. Development of the application, its corresponding computer programs, and literature survey are discussed in this thesis.
