Many topics were covered in this interview. The primary topics discussed were Franklin
Brown's family history and growing up in Davie, Florida. Mr. Brown discussed community
involvement such as ·his volunteer work at the Old Davie School House and at Davie's Orange
Blossom Festival. Mr. Brown served as a firefighter as well as a certified firefighting instructor
for over twenty-five years for the City of Fort Lauderdale and volunteered for Davie. His family
and his wife, Patricia's family have been life-long residents of Davie, Florida.

Description
The primary topic of this interview concerned the experiences of Richard McCall from
his birth in his home in Augusta, Georgia to his life and times in Davie, Florida. Mr. McCall
lived in and around Davie all his life and witnessed distinct changes within South Florida and
more specifically, the town of Davie. He joined the US Army after the Korean War and was
stationed in England. He was also an avid motorcycle mechanic and rider and used this
knowledge for his later endeavors. He attended the University of Florida with his wife for two
years before moving back to Davie and worked for the Griffin brothers. Later on, he owned a
nursery business with his wife and since retired.

Mark Pickering interviewed science professor Khalique Ahmed at his Boca Raton,
Florida, office at Lynn University on February 10, 2015. The interview consisted of
Dr. Ahmed's childhood in Jhelum City, Pakistan, his impressions of the past and
current Pakistan, his graduate studies in Islamabad, Pakistan, his moving from
Pakistan to North America, and his observations of the differences in Pakistan and
North America.

Bobby Wayne Brown Sr. is a retired Navy sailor from Greenville,
Mississippi. He began his service following a poor, rural upbringing in 1970, retiring for
medical reasons in 1993. He served in the Vietnam War, and took the time to be interviewed
by Adam Rea on February 10' 2013, during a vacation to visit his son's family in Hollywood,
FL. Several topics were covered, including his personal life, military career and political
views.

Description
The primary purpose of this interview included a discussion of Ms. Kathy Cox, and her
experiences as a community organizer and city councilperson for the Town of Davie, from 1988
to 1997. The interview also touched on her thoughts about growing up in South Florida, and how
her childhood experiences influenced her political career as an adult. The interview described her
accomplishments as city councilperson, namely the Davie equestrian trail system, the
establishment of which she played a critical role. Finally, the interview enquired about her
present-day activities, and her overall thoughts on the Town of Davie, past, present, and future.
