The Books Came, But Not the Shelves is a historical article on the beginnings of a library at FAU, the first Director Edward M. Heilger and how Hurricane Cleo (August 27-28, 1964) blew out the new library windows and soaked ten percent of the collection. Arthur Jaffe, curator, donor, and Professor Emeritus for the Jaffee Center for Book Arts (1998-2011). He started the center by donating 2,800 books. It opened in 2000. Florida Atlantic University Wimberly Library is on the front cover of the December 1986 edition of the Library Journal for the lead article titled: Academic and Public Library Buildings, 1986, Shared Housing for the library, Cooperative Planning for a Better Building.
