This interview covers the formation, growth and development of the South Florida Water Management District from 1949 until 2008. Mr. Joe Schweigart, a civil engineer, worked there from 1959 until 2002. The interview includes pertinent discussions on environmental concerns in Central and South Florida, politics and working environment within the District, and past, present, and future challenges to the District. Mostly broad issues are addressed and summarized. However, Mr. Schweigart expresses his personal opinions and more in depth coverage to some specific key events in the history of Florida water resources.
