Note
This is the personal life story of Mr. Sam Greene as it relates to the Jewish experience during World War II. Mr. Greene grew up in 1920s Berlin, Germany during the Weimar Republic. As the Nazis consolidated power, the increase of Anti-Semitism and Anti-Semitic attacks forced the Greene family to escape to Belgium—only Sam and his older brother made it to Belgium. Soon it was no longer safe to live in Belgium, Mr. Greene immigrated to Palestine. In 1948, Mr. Greene was involved in the Israeli War of Independence. Mr. Greene’s recollections of youth provide a personal, moving, and detailed account of the Jewish experience during World War II and his fight for survival.
