Description
André Bazin, a French film theorist and critic, believed that the camera had the power to reflect an “objective reality” and therefore truthfully reveal life’s beauty and complexity. The Italian film style of neorealism focuses on capturing the realism Bazin spoke of. In direct contrast to this style is the style of surrealist film, which depict dreamlike images and operate in a fashion that abandons the 'real' and no longer follows the rules of traditional storytelling constructs. Fusing these two styles into a short film, I aim to artistically explore the phenomenon of productivity, procrastination and purpose. My thesis will document my rationale, a critical analysis, and feature the process of this project.
