Dean Ann Boykin, Professor Emeritus. During her 33 years as an FAU dean Dean Boykin introduced four degree programs. A substantial endowment was created. Two Eminent Scholar Chairs were created. Nine centers and research institutes were launched which includes the Anne Boykin Institute for the Advancement of Caring in Nursing. Description
Heather Frazer, PhD, Professor, Professor Emeritus, FAU 1971-2006. She was part of a team of faculty and staff that lobbied for a Women's Studies curriculum. In 1986, FAU offered the first certificate program in Woman's Studies. In 1988, Frazer was awarded a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship that allowed her to teach and research in India. Professor Frazer was named Distinguished Teacher of the Year at FAU in 1990. She is published extensively in scholarly journals. After her retirement she was named Professor emeritus of History which allowed her to continue to mentor other faculty members. The photo is proof of her as a prolific researcher and writer. Marilyn Floy Federico, EdD 1974. A faculty member in FAU's College of Education. She later became the Associated Provost in the Office of Academic Affairs. At two different honor societies she held leadership positions. At Phi Kappa Phi she served two terms as FAU's chapter president. In 2003 she was awarded the Degree of Difference Award by the FAU Alumni Association for her contributions to helping students. In 2004 she retired and was given the title of Associate Professor Emeritus in Educational Leadership. Dr. Federico passed on in 2013 and her husband Chuck established the Marilyn Floyd Federico Memorial Scholarship Endowment. Description
Louise Jones (Gopher) 1970 BBA Graduate. She was the first female member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida to become a university graduate. She was a force for the creation of the tribes first charter school name Pemayetv Emahakv which translates into teaching our way. The school opened its doors in 2007. She has also been inducted into the Florida Woman's Hall of Fame and in 2014 she was awarded FAU's Distinguished Service Medallion by President John Kelly. Joan Joyce, Head FAU Owls Softball Coach. A multitalented athlete in softball, golf, basketball and volleyball. As softball coach she had lead FAU to 10 conference championships and 8 NCAA Tournament appearances.
